Nocturne

Although my days have been filled with teaching high school Visual Art, last weekend I worked at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia during the second annual Halifax Nocturne Arts Festival.  Since I was actually working I didn’t get a chance to partake in the outdoor festivities, but apparently it was rad.  Things were hoppin’ inside the Gallery as well and I had a blast making little reflective projects with lovely strangers!

True Blood

I rented the first season of True Blood over the summer and I have to admit that I’m hooked.  It’s clever and naughty, sexy and funny, and just downright weird.  But hey, that’s what TV escapism is about, right?  Sookie annoys the hell out of me.  I thinks she’s completely ridiculous and I have NO idea why Bill finds her so appealing.  Unfortunately that makes me find Bill a little ridiculous as well.  Now Eric, on the other hand – sigh.  Sorry for sounding swoony there but he is one vampire with positively devastating sex appeal.

Halifax Crafters Art Harvest

Oh man, I know that I have been seriously neglecting my blog posts.  I’ve recently been hired as a full-time high school Visual Art/Film & Video teacher, so I’ve been running around non-stop for the past couple of weeks!  I absolutely love it, however.

This weekend I’m super-stoked to be representing at the annual Halifax Crafters Art Harvest downtown at the North Street church.  The work shown here is BOMB.  You must check it out.  Here are the deets….

Fashion Felines

Now, normally I focus on interesting human-targeted fashion and accessory items.  Who said there’s anything wrong with a well-accessorized pet?  One thing’s for sure.  This cat has mastered the supermodel I-don’t-give-a-rat’s-ass expression.  Or is it a I’m-going-to-kick-your-ass expression?  Either way, check out the shop of etsy seller PamperedWhiskers.

High Fashion Paper Dolls

This is the first of what will eventually become a series of alternative style paper dolls.  The actual model is designed/illustrated by me and the clothes are fashioned after this season’s more daring looks.  I sell them in my etsy shop cottoncandycupcake for only $5.00 as a full-color pdf file which I email to you.  That way there’s no shipping charges or packaging material, and you can print them yourself at home or, as I recommend, take them to your local print shop to have put onto sturdier card stock.  You can custom order the hair, eye, skin, lip and even earring color!

NES is RAD!

That’s right ladies and gentleman – do not adjust your screens.  It is indeed an original classic Nintendo game system and an original Tetris game cartridge being played in 2009.  Chad found it at his parent’s house and joyfully presented it here yesterday.  Everything still works fine, although we’re wondering how we accomplished SO many hours of game play with such poorly ergonomically designed controllers…..  Nobody writes music like those Russians.

Cotton Candy Cupcake Across the (big) Pond

<GUSH> there’s probably nothing that makes an artisan happier than seeing their creations in use.  Here’s an appreciation photo courtesy of a Cotton Candy Cupcake fan in England loving her new pair of silver and yellow SOPHIE satin feather earrings.  Thanks Lyddi!!!  Well, at least I can send my little flocks out to wear I WISH I could go….. I just have to sell several hundred more pair to afford the flight.
